Switch STRUCTURE on and a dropped file comes back as more than a number. The key arrives with its Camelot code, and under it the whole song laid out in bars - intro, verses, choruses, bridge, outro - so you can read the arrangement before you have listened to a bar of it.

Getting started
What does EasyBPM do?+
EasyBPM tells you the tempo and the musical key of any audio. Put the plugin on a track and it reads the tempo and key live while the music plays; or drop a file on it and it analyses the whole thing at once. It never writes to your project - it only reads.
Plugin, app, or both?+
Both, on one licence. The plugin (AU and VST3 on Mac, VST3 and CLAP on Windows) lives on a track inside your DAW, reads it live and takes dropped files too. The standalone app does the same on its own, and can also LISTEN to whatever is playing on the computer.
Which DAWs and systems work?+
macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or later - EasyBPM uses the system audio capture that macOS 14.2 introduced - and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). The Mac build is a universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel. Any host that loads AU, VST3 or CLAP will load EasyBPM - Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, FL Studio and the rest.
Do I need an internet connection?+
Only to activate your key. After that EasyBPM checks in quietly whenever it is online, and keeps working for fourteen days without a connection - then it asks to go online once to re-verify. The analysis itself never uses the internet - your audio stays on your machine.
Does my audio get uploaded anywhere?+
No. All detection runs on your own machine. Nothing about the audio - not the file, not the name, not the tempo it found - is ever sent anywhere.
How it works
How accurate is it?+
Accurate enough to work from, and honest about when it is not: while it measures, the number starts soft and comes into focus once the reading is confirmed. On steady material that takes seconds; if it never sharpens - rubato, very sparse material - that is your cue to tap it in instead. Tempo shows as a whole number, or to two decimals with DECIMALS switched on in Settings.
It says 140 and I hear 70. Why?+
Tempo has an octave problem - half and double time are genuinely the same grid, and every detector meets it. That is exactly why the ÷2 and ×2 buttons sit directly under the number: one press and the reading is the one you meant.
How does key detection work?+
The key is read from the audio the same way the tempo is. On a track in your DAW, or while LISTEN runs, a first read appears within seconds and firms up as the music plays; drop a file and the whole track is read at once. The key name and its Camelot code are shown together - switch CAMELOT off in Settings if you do not use it.
Can I tap the tempo in by hand?+
Yes. Tap along on the TAP button and EasyBPM fits a tempo to your taps; a bar fills as you go, and sixteen taps fill it. Pause for two seconds and a fresh count starts, or press RESET.
Does it change my project?+
No. EasyBPM reads audio and shows you a number. It does not set your project tempo, move regions, or write anything into the session.
Can it read what is playing in my browser?+
Yes, in the standalone app: LISTEN captures the computer's own audio output, so a reference track in a browser tab or a player is analysed the same way a file would be. On a Mac it needs macOS 14.2 or later and asks once for permission to capture system audio - nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. The plugin reads its own track instead.
Can I analyse a whole folder?+
Yes. Drop several files or a whole folder and EasyBPM lists every track with its tempo, key and Camelot code. Right-click the table to copy it and paste it into a spreadsheet.
Why does it show two keys?+
A relative major and minor, like Bbm and Db, share every note and the same Camelot code. When a track leans both ways, EasyBPM shows you both instead of guessing.
Do I need to reset between songs?+
No. Stop the transport or move to another song and the plugin starts a fresh reading on its own. RESET is there if you want to force one.
How do I copy the result?+
Once the reading is final, TAP turns into COPY and puts tempo, key and Camelot code on the clipboard. Right-click the number or the key to copy just that value - the tempo pastes straight into your DAW's tempo field.
Licence & payment
Where do I enter my key?+
Open EasyBPM - until a key is in, the licence screen opens by itself. Paste the key from your email and press ACTIVATE. Later you can reach the same screen from the LICENSED chip in the top corner, or from License… in the menu-bar or tray menu. Keys start with EBPM- (older ones EBP-), and both work.
How long is the free trial?+
Seven days, with every feature unlocked. The trial runs on the yearly plan, so a card is needed to start it - nothing is charged until day 8, and cancelling before then costs you nothing. We email you three days before it ends, so the date is never a surprise. Buy the Lifetime licence before day 8 and we cancel the subscription for you.
Yearly or Lifetime - what is the difference?+
Yearly (€9) starts with seven free days and then renews once a year until you cancel - it unlocks everything on two machines for as long as it is active. Lifetime (€19) is a one-time purchase for one machine that you keep forever, updates included. The Studio licence (€29) is the same as Lifetime, on two machines.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?+
Yearly and the Studio licence cover two machines at once - a laptop and the studio, or a Mac and a PC. Lifetime covers one. To move a seat, press DEACTIVATE on the licence screen of the machine you are leaving and activate the key on the new one. If the old machine is gone, write to us and we will free the seat.
I am on the yearly plan and want to buy it outright.+
Buy the Lifetime licence and we cancel the subscription for you the same minute, so you are never billed for both. Use the new key from then on - the email you get says which one is retired.
How do I cancel or change my card?+
Open the billing page with your licence key, or press MANAGE on the licence screen inside EasyBPM. Both land on your own Stripe portal, where you can cancel, change the card and download every invoice.
Can I reset the trial by reinstalling?+
No. The trial runs on your Stripe subscription, not on the app install, so reinstalling will not restart it.
What if it does not work for me?+
Run the seven free days first - that is what they are for, and cancelling inside them costs nothing. If something is still wrong after you have paid, EU law gives you fourteen days to change your mind, and we will refund you. Write to support@easyoneaudio.com either way; we read every message.
Do I get free updates?+
Yes, on every plan - Yearly for as long as the subscription runs, Lifetime and Studio forever.

EasyBPM is a plugin and app for macOS and Windows, made by EasyOneAudio, an independent studio. We built it to need as little of your data as possible. This policy explains exactly what it accesses, what we collect, and why.

What happens on your machine

All tempo and key detection runs locally, on your own computer. Your audio never leaves it. Files you drop on EasyBPM, the audio on the track it is placed on, the sound it captures with LISTEN, the tempo and key it works out - none of it is uploaded, stored or sent to us or to anyone else. There is no cloud analysis and no account to sign in to.

What we collect

  • Licensing & trial. When you activate a licence, EasyBPM contacts our licensing service to verify it. The app sends only your licence key and a machine identifier - a hashed value derived from your computer's hardware. Your email address is collected by Stripe when you start the trial or buy on our website, and we keep it with your licence so we can send you your key and billing emails. This is what binds a licence to your machines and stops it being copied.
  • Crash and problem reports. If EasyBPM crashes, or you send a problem report from the Support screen, we receive a technical report - what went wrong and where - plus anything you choose to attach. This can be switched off in Settings.
  • Support & feedback. If you email us or write to us from inside the app, we receive your message and email address so we can reply.

EasyBPM contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking, and it does not record what you analyse - not the file names, not the tempos, not the keys.

Service providers

  • Licensing is handled by Supabase, which stores licence records on our behalf solely to validate licences.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details - Stripe handles them directly under its own privacy policy.
  • Our website uses analytics and advertising services (Google Analytics 4 and Meta) to measure traffic and how our ads perform. They load by default and are switched off if you press “Decline” in the cookie banner. When you start a trial or buy, we may share your email address with Meta in irreversibly hashed form (SHA-256) so that we can measure our ads and reach people similar to our customers - Meta receives the hash, never the address itself. Email us to opt out and we will remove you within 7 days.

Retention & your rights

We keep licence records while your licence is active, and support emails for as long as needed to help you. You can ask us to access or delete the data we hold about you at any time - just email us.

Changes

If we update this policy we'll change the date above and post the new version here.

Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and EasyOneAudio for using EasyBPM. By downloading or using it, you agree to them.

Your licence

We grant you a personal licence to use EasyBPM - the plugin and the standalone app together:

  • Lifetime (€19, one-time) - a perpetual licence for use on one machine, including future updates.
  • Studio (€29, one-time) - a perpetual licence for use on two machines, including future updates.
  • Yearly (€9 a year) - a licence for two machines, valid for as long as your subscription is active, and starting with seven free days.

A licence is signed to the machines it is activated on and may not be shared, resold, sublicensed or reverse-engineered. You can move any seat to another machine by deactivating it on the old one, from the licence screen.

Free trial

EasyBPM comes with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan, all features unlocked. A payment method is required to start it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the yearly subscription begins and your card is charged automatically; we email you three days beforehand. You can cancel at any point during the 7 days and pay nothing. If you buy the Lifetime licence while your trial is still running, we cancel the subscription for you straight away, so you are never charged the €9 on top of the licence.

Payments & renewals

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. The yearly subscription renews automatically until you cancel; you can cancel any time from the billing page or from inside EasyBPM, and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. If you buy the Lifetime licence while a subscription is running, we cancel the subscription for you straight away, so you are never billed for both.

Refunds

Under EU consumer law you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase: if you change your mind within 14 days, email us and we'll issue a full refund. After that period all sales are final. Because there is also a free 7-day trial, please make sure EasyBPM works for you before the card is charged.

What it does

EasyBPM reads audio and reports a tempo and a key. It does not modify your audio, your MIDI, your plug-ins, your project files or your project tempo. Detection is a measurement, not a guarantee: some material is genuinely ambiguous, which is why every reading carries a confidence figure and why halve and double are one press away. Always keep your own backups of your work.

“As is”

We work hard to keep EasyBPM compatible with current versions of macOS, Windows and the hosts it runs in, but it is provided “as is”, without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, EasyOneAudio is not liable for any indirect or incidental damages arising from its use.

Changes & termination

We may update these terms (we'll change the date above) or discontinue the product, and we may suspend a licence used in breach of these terms.
